Before I start, I just want to mention that Sephora's sale starts today for VIB and Beauty Insiders! And of course, it's another weekend for Rouge members. If you aren't signed up, you can automatically get 10% off just by signing up! I covered the initial weekend of this sale last week, but you can view my Top Cruelty-Free and Non toxic picks from the Sephora Spring Bonus Sale here. You might also like my post on Cruelty-Free and Non Toxic Brands at Sephora. So YES. The lipstick I'm talking about is at least on sale for 10% for ya!!

Happy Fri-yay! You made it through another week, now get ready for the weekeeeeend! Last weekend I wore this outfit to a baby shower. Isn't it cute?! One of my personal wardrobe rules while attending a shower, or any event really is to make sure to have pockets! You don't want to carry around a purse and you don't want to be on your phone the whole time, so a pocket is great to hold ze phone and give you extra hands for important things like a piece of cake and a cup of punch ;) Another "personal rule" is that if you're going to wear a lip, make it last!

I've touched on it before, but until recently, I didn't really wear a lip color. I wore it so much in high school for dancing, that whereas some girls might find wearing lipstick as liberating, I found freedom in not having to wear it! As I have gotten older, I've found that wearing something on your lips helps seal your look, sooo I have participated more than usual recently!

When I embarked on this cruelty-free and nontoxic journey, I realized just how hard it was. It's not really that there aren't products out there, it's that other companies try to use confusing verbiage / not give you the whole picture, so when a brand is really upfront about their standards, I LOVE it! Lawless is one of those companies.

I introduced y'all to Lawless Beauty for the first time almost 4 months ago, on my Valentine's Day Gift Guide post, then again on my February Favorites and Favorite Cruelty-Free and Nontoxic Lipstick Brands post. I mentioned it the first time I posted about it, but I learned about this brand from the queen of lipstick herself, Katey McFarlan of Chronicles of Frivolity. I had forgotten about it, and then Natalie from The Fashion Hour posted about it and I was like I NEED THIS. Fast forward several months later, and I can confidently say that this is my current favorite lipstick! But why? I'm going to review the entire product with y'all, so you can see what made me come to my conclusion:

Packaging: Sleek and modern. You won't get a paper cut or break a nail, whilst trying to open it, it just slides on out. Nothing super out there, but I love the square shape and it's not going to come open in your purse.

Product: For something that is on the nontoxic end of the spectrum, I kind of expected it to not work as great? I don't know. But let me tell you IT WORKS. If you're going to eat an apple off the core or a whole pizza, I mean yeah, you'll have to reapply, but I'm good with that. I wore it to a wine tasting event where my lips touched a billion and two glasses and they looked just as good as they did when I walked in. It wears evenly, which is super nice. You don't need to cake it on though, so keep that in mind. It actually works better, the thinner you go. Something else that was kind of a surprise is that it smells SO GOOD.

Pricing: Each lipstick costs $25. Sure, it's not the price of one you can pick up from the drugstore, but in my opinion, it is well worth the cost. Just like you pay more for organic items, it only makes sense that you pay more for a product that doesn't have all that not so great stuff in it. Right?! I mean I pay more for natural deodorant and that fails me sometimes...Hah!

TIPS FOR USING

-Lipliner. I am dyingggg for Lawless to come out with some liners, but recently I have been using Tarte Tartiest Lip Liner. I use Boho for Brad and Jake and Turnt for Romeo. I really only wear liner with the lighter colors if I need to to last forever or am going to be eating quite a bit. I always wear liner with the dark red, just because of the nature of the color.

-Concealer. I actually learned this trick from Annie, the founder! Darker colors like the Romeo hue show feathering more than lighter color. (this is when the color bleeds onto the skin around the lips). You basically draw around you lips in concealer, blot it in, and watch it work its magic!  The one I use for things like this is Milk Makeup Flex Concealer.

-Wand. I wasn't sure what word to even use to describe this, but basically let the wand work for you! You don't need a ton of product to make it work. I wipe most of it off within the tube, then apply. In fact if you coat it thick, you probably won't like it.

ANYWAY, my go to hue is Brad. I can't really wear any of the other nude-ish color because of skintone, so Brad is my everyday look. My most recent shade is Jake. It's the perfect hue for spring! It's the color I'm wearing here, actually. I also like to mix Brad and Jake together for a lighter, but darker hue. And last but not least, yes I love the Romeo red shade. It's the perfect crimson. To make it darker, use 2 layers or try out Dane.

Wearing, in order, Jake, Romeo, Brad. Next on my list...I want to try Ryan!!
