We are entering mid-December, people!! Are all your gifts purchased and presents wrapped? As I have aged, there are less things that I want and more memories...oh and investment pieces are nice;). A super popular Christmas gift is often jewelry. For mine and Nick's first dating Christmas, he got me an Elsa Peretti Diamond's by the yard necklace! (but you already knew he was a keeper;) ) It's great to get nice things, but what if something bad happens to them? Your cat knocks your emerald studs down the sink, you help your daughter stand up on her water skis and it takes your ring off in the process, only to float to the bottom of the mucky lake, your dog eats your tennis bracelet... Not that I know anyone who that those things have happened to ;)

Keeping my jewelry safe and sound is one thing, but keeping it smart is a whole 'nother ball game. The first question is are you keeping your own jewelry smart? The second question is, if you are buying someone precious jewelry this Christmas, are you making sure it is kept smart? Having just gotten married, one of the first things we did was insure my engagement ring, then of course our wedding bands. Nick bought me a gold ring with sapphires and diamonds in it (the one in the pictures!) as a wedding gift and we haven't gotten that ensured yet - better hop to it!

Speaking of engagements...it is totally engagement season! Are you about to pop the question? Next Tuesday will mark one year since our engagement. It was a great day and everything went perfectly, but what if it hadn't? No matter how careful you are, accidents can happen. That's why there's jewelry insurance.

Enter Jewelers Mutual Insurance CompanyJewelers Mutual has been exclusively insuring jewelry for more than 100 years and offers repair or replacement coverage that includes worldwide travel protection for all types of jewelry and watches. Coverage includes loss, theft, damage and mysterious disappearance. Plus has extra layers of protection that goes beyond what a typical homeowner's or renters policy includes! Could that be any more perfect? I think my favorite feature is the worldwide travel protection! Nick and I enjoy a lot traveling and because we had insurance, we could travel with ease, knowing that our rings were safe.

Does this have you thinking about a missed gift? Here's some of my favorite baubles - costume, semi-precious, and of course precious. Shop them via the widget below the graphic- just click the arrows to scroll through! If you get the precious items, just be sure and head on over to Jewelers Mutual Insurance Company and they will get you fixed up!

If you don't want to buy or just want to try your luck, enter to win $1000 in jewelry from Jewelers Mutual here. Contest ends 12/15 at 11 am CST.

Do you have jewelry insurance? Who do you use?  Keep those pieces safe - they really are priceless!
