Last weekend, I had the pleasure of visiting Runaway Bay, Texas for the first time! My parents, sister and husband and myself, all went on a quick road trip to celebrate my mom’s birthday. Runaway Bay is a short hour and a half from Dallas, located near Bridgeport and Decatur if you are familiar with the surrounding Dallas area. It is also near Chico, which is where we did this photo shoot late last year. We went to RB with the main purpose being to check out Runaway Bay Golf Club and Resort. It was just the weekend away we needed and I’m excited to share more details about our little getaway today.

Overlooking the golf course at Runaway Bay!

Here’s what our weekend itinerary looked like!

  • Friday: Arrived in Bridgeport, right outside of Runaway Bay and ate dinner at Dos Chiles. It was a yummy Mexican restaurant and we would recommend it! After that, we checked into our house and played games / roasted smores until we went to bed.

  • Saturday: We woke up at made breakfast at the house, then went to Runaway Bay Golf Club and Resort to check out the driving range and work on our short game. We could not have asked for a more beautiful day. The clouds were billowing and you could see the bay glistening in the background. The perfect scene!! Just add the soft β€œwhoosh” of golf balls taking flight and you’re in heaven! After that, we went back to the house, had lunch and played games. We are a game family ;) For dinner we went back up to the club and ate at the Lakeview Tavern and Grill. Get the chicken fried steak! After that, we watched a movie and turned in for the evening.

  • Sunday: We slept in and checked out of our cute house, then went to Brandi’s Country Kitchen for breakfast. Very yummy and the perfect ending to our quick weekend getaway!

Inside the pretty air bnb home we got to stay in c/o of Runaway Bay Golf Club and Resort. They rent these out!!

Thinking that Runaway Bay could be the perfect getaway for you and some family or friends? Here’s a mini travel guide to make your planning easier!

WHERE TO STAY:

Runaway Bay Golf Club and Resort has houses they rent that even include club perks as part of the package! It was perfect staying there, because we had the ease of being together in a home vs multiple hotel rooms. Plus it was walking distance to the course. You could literally step out onto it from the backyard!

Overall It was a super relaxing weekend and just what we needed. I went for a quick run one day and spotted a deer! There’s so much nature to enjoy and the skies are beautiful! It was the perfect quick getaway! It’s not too far from Dallas, but far enough that you get to enjoy the open Texas skies. Don’t get me wrong, I love Dallas; however, you don’t get those big sky views from city life.

Have you ever been to Runaway Bay? What is your favorite thing to do there? Let me know so I can check it out when we go back!!
