I’ve heard the praises of bone broth for a couple of years now, but didn’t take the leap to trying it until this fall. When I finally decided to take the plunge, I went with Kettle and Fire for a myriad of reasons, but first and foremost because their bone broth is grass-fed and organic. For those of you are like okay but what the heck is bone broth, how K&F describe bone broth as a liquid made from animal bones and connective tissue — typically cattle, chicken, or fish — that have been boiled into a broth and slow simmered for 10 to more than 20 hours with herbs, vegetables, and spices.

If you’re unfamiliar with bone broth, you’re also probably wondering how it is different than chicken or beef broth or stock. The main thing is that regular broth and stock is often simmered for less than 6 hours, so not all of the nutrients are absorbed. Additionally, bone broth is made with bones and tissues, where as regular broth is meat and bones and stock is just bones. From a high level, stock and regular broth aren’t bad for you, but bone broth offers so many more nutrients and benefits.

Bone Broth is definitely trending right now, but it is actually thousands of years old. In ancient times, it was customary to let NOTHING go to waste, so bone broth was actually really common. (can we go back to that un-wasteful time?!) It is also a part of traditional Chinese medicine. (they know what they are doing! I love their jade roller too!)

So yeah yeah, but why is it SOOO good for you? Here are just a couple of ways bone broth can benefit you:

  • collagen creator. It promotes healthy joints and pretty skin.

  • digestive driver. It aids in digestion and can also help things like leaky gut!

  • anti-inflammatory assist. Most diets consist of inflammatory agents, as do a lot of medicines. This can help you combat that.

  • protein packer. Nutrition at its finest!

  • hormone helper. The nutrients found naturally in bone broth promote happy and balanced hormones.

  • immunity improvement. The antioxidants and natural ingredients in bone broth, boost your body’s ability to fight off sickness.

Now those are just a fewwwww of the great things bone broth can help you with, but chances are if you add it to your diet, you’ll see more than that. Kettle and Fire recommends sipping 8 oz of bone broth daily for maximum benefits. Now, I haven’t done that quite yet, but I have incorporated it into recipes instead of water! Another thing I loooove about Kettle and Fire is that they not only sell bone broth, but they sell soups made with their beloved bb! Their tomato soup is a staple for us and I just tried their miso soup for the first time last week. So good and an easy grab for your pantry that is also good for you!

For an easy meal, I made these chicken meatballs and plopped them in kettle and fire miso soup. Maybe this year I’ll get into actually sipping bone broth regularly. Who knows! What I do know is that  I just feel good after I consume bone broth. My body is just happy  I guess! Want to give it a go for yourself? Get 20% off your first order of Kettle and Fire with this link! You might have just found your go-to easy dinner! Grilled cheese and tomato soup with benefits ;)

Do you like bone broth? Any favorite way of drinking it? Or recipes?! I’ve also heard great things about Osso Good Bone Broth, in addition to Bonafide Bone Broth. Anyone tried those?!
