I tend to be a creature of habit. I like to get the spaghetti and tomato sauce at an Italian restaurant and prefer a classic cheeseburger when it comes to American food. Oh and I have worn round, tortoise-shell glasses since pretty much forever. I know what I like, okay?! Iā€™ve been looking into new glasses frames for a while; however, have not been able to pull the trigger for various reason, be it style, price, or just the fact that it can be an annoying process outside of the ophthalmologistā€™s office. Mind you, a pair of glasses can be crazy expensive in the office, so you choose! Letā€™s just say I havenā€™t gone with the latter in quite some timeā€¦

When Hip Optical (HO) reached out to me over a month ago, I was ecstatic to find not only a great product, but an easy and fool-proof way to purchase glasses online. Now thiis not my first time obtaining glasses over the internet.... Iā€™ve tried others that boast being able to try them on at home; however, whenever Iā€™d try to order a box, none of the styles I wanted to try were able to be ā€œchecked-outā€. I became frustrated and didnā€™t even want to complete the process, even though I desperately needed to updated my eyeglasses scrip. Today Iā€™m excited to tell you all about the experience and what sets Hip Optical apart!

How does Hip Optical work?

  • Retrieve prescription. You can upload your scrip, have HO call your doctor, or send a scrip email. If you donā€™t remember yours, eye doctors usually are happy to send you your last updated scrip.

  • Obtain your pupillary distance. Use HO software, measure yourself with a ruler/credit card, or have it measured by a friend and submit. If you go to the doctor for an updated scrip, you can also have them measure you there!

  • Pick your specs. There are so many cute and classic styles to choose from. For more information, make sure scroll down to see the size of the frames / how they fit, ie wide, narrow. They also tell you how to compare the shape of glasses to some you might already own, based on the numbers on the inside of your temple. (It makes total sense, but I never knew I could do this!!)

  • Submit insurance. HO accepts Flexible Saving Account (FSA) and Health Saving Account (HSA) dollars. If you have Vision Service Plan (VSP) or another not in network provider, these often have the ability to receive some money back! Just submit the HO detailed receipt to your provider and receive the reimbursement.

  • Wait patiently! Single vision glasses take max 3 days to make and progressive lenses take max 5 days to make. All orders are received within 7 days and include FREE SHIPPING! Each pair of glasses comes with a sturdy case and cleaning cloth.

  • Unsure about the product? There is a 30 return window that you are able to take advantage of!

What makes Hip Optical different?

  • Prices. Their prices are fantastic!

      • $87 for single vision vs $95 elsewhere

      • $187 for progressives vs $295 elsewhere

      • Add on blue light blocking for $37 vs $50 elsewhere

      • Add on night responsive (clear to dark) feature for $67 vs $100 elsewhere

    • Sunglasses are $77 for frame only vs $95 elsewhere

      • $107 for single vision vs $175 elsewhere

  • Origin. Made in America, specifically in Georgia!

  • Quality. All HO eye glasses are made with hand polished acetate, spring loaded stainless steel hinges, lightweight, impact resistant, and anti-scratch lenses.

  • Charity. Hip Optical partners with Restoring Vision, a non-profit organization that gets glasses to people who do not have access to them. For every pair purchased through HO, they donate a pair to someone in need. Just one pair of glasses increases productivity by 35% which increases monthly income by 20%!

Overall, I love my Hip Optical Beverly Glasses (c/o) and could not recommend them more. I also like my Hip Optical Batista Sunglasses (c/o), which you saw me wear here! Try HO out for yourself and let me know what you think! Donā€™t forget to use code ELLE10 to receive $10 off your order!
