Okay, hopefully you’re as excited about this post as I am! Dyson products typically receive all the praise. Whether its their hair dryers, vacuums, or fans, I ALWAYS hear good things. Their only flaw? The price. Dyson products are UP THERE as far as budgets go, so I totally understand why they are on “wish lists” versus “actually purchased” lists. Personally, I had been begging Nick for one for a while. Back when we had central AC it would have been a little opulent; however, now that we don’t have air conditioning, it fell more into the necessity category. Before going in for the kill, I asked you on this post if you had a fan recommendations and if the Dyson was worth it. ALL OF YOU SAID YES. Next thing you know Costco put it on sale. The rest is history!

Dyson Pure Cool TP02 Fan Air Purifier Review, honest dyson fan review, is a dyson fan worth the money, where to find dyson on sale, costco, amazon, lments of style, small la apartment, los angeles, ellemulenos, la blogger

Before owning the Dyson Pure Cool TP02 Fan AIr Purifier, we had the Holmes Oscillating Tower Fan 32 Inch with Remote Control. We actually used in our bedroom pre-LA! It made the move with us, but died towards the end of April 2020, lasting almost 3 years. It was nice, but was pretty clunky and didn’t have that strong of an air current. Last fall (2019), my mother-in-law bought us a Vornado fan. We still use it! It has 4 different speeds and air pressure comes out very nicely!! We have the largest size, but it comes in medium and personal sizes too. We currently keep this in our bedroom; however, if it is really hot, we bring both the Dyson and the Vornado into the same space. Its downfalls are that it’s kind of heavy / clunky, pretty loud, and more so pushes the air around versus creating actual cool air. It does blow harder than the Dyson though! In short, we are really lucky to have both!

Let’s get into the actual Dyson fan! I just wanted to mention what we had, so you knew what we were working with / comparing the Dyson fan to. Our LA apartment is around 850 square feet, so not a ton of space; however, it has enough space that keeping cool on an 80+ degree day is hard. LA has great weather, but when it is hot outside, our apartment bakes up to the point where it is actually cooler outside than inside. Fairly recently we had a major heat wave and it was 90+ degrees. Our apartment got to be around 87+ degrees. Our butter on the counter completely melted, as did our shelved coconut oil! I have thick body butter that turned into a soupy mess too. Get the picture? The point is that we were in NEED of a new fan.

Without further with ado, here are our thoughts on our Dyson Pure Cool TP02 Fan AIr Purifier.

PROS REGARDING THE DYSON PURE COOL TPO2 FAN AIR PURIFIER

  • Light Weight. I guess it makes sense, since there is a giant hole in the middle, but I didn’t expect it to be as light as it is. I was comparing it to our other stand fan, but wow! I love that it isn’t crazy heavy. We move it back and forth between the bedrooms and kitchen, so this is a nice feature.

  • Cool Air. This was the biggest perk to me. The air being blown from the fan is actually cooled. When it is hot and humid in our apartment, I don’t want just any air. I want cold air that will actually cool me down, not just blow the sweat off my nose. Hah! My father-in-law was in town last week and he actually made a comment about how cool the air was. He was impressed and so am I!

  • Two in One. What encouraged us take the plunge and buy the Dyson Pure Cool TP02 Fan AIr Purifier was that it is both a fan AND an air purifier. A good air purifier starts around $100, so it seemed like a deal that it was included. LA air quality isn’t that great, but also we have 3 pets and a lottttt of pet smells. The purifier comes in really handy!

  • Aesthetically Pleasing. Let’s be real. I originally wanted a Dyson fan because they are actually nice to look at! Thankfully it is more than just a pretty face and actually works well too! Something to keep in mind that actually might be a con is that yes it is pretty, but make sure to dust it frequently! Because it has a hole in it, there is a lot more surface area that attracts dust, specifically inside the the oval. I’d say that the inner ring attracts more dust than the outer ring!

CONS REGARDING THE DYSON PURE COOL TPO2 FAN AIR PURIFIER

  • High Price. This is the real deterrent for sure. We lucked out and bought it at Cosco on sale. It was already marked down and we received a $100 rebate!

  • Hard App. We purchased the fan early May, but didn’t get the app to connect until late June. For some reason, connecting it was hard, but once you get it connected, it is great! You can use the app to turn it on (it does have a remote that comes with it, so the phone isn’t 100% necessary), change the level (it goes from 1-10), oscillate, create a schedule, and more. The home screen of the app tells your the air quality, temperature, and humidity both outdoor and in your home too! Point being the app is actually a “pro” if you can get it to connect! Side note - I love being able to check on our pets when we are gone and see what the temperature is and everything!

  • Purifier On. I suppose it makes sense that you want it running; however, I wish there was a switch to turn the purifier off. Since we don’t have AC, we run it all the time. I can only imagine how many filters we are going to run through a year!

Overall I DO recommend the Dyson Pure Cool TP02 Fan Air Purifier and am really happy with it! Note that it is normally around $499. When we purchased ours, Costco had it on sale for $399. They also had a $100 rebate on top of that, so we only paid $299 for it. Our thought process in buying it was it would be around $100 - $200 for a nice fan anyway, plus another $100 for an air purifier. We killed 2 birds with 1 stone with this purchase! You can usually find some Dyson fans on sale pre-summer months. I know when we purchased ours, Amazon also had it on sale for $100 off, but no $100 rebate on top of that. I would purchase it again, but not sure if I would buy more than one for our budget’s sake. If money wasn’t an object, I’d have one in every room! We will likely buy another fan so we can have a fan in each room of our apartment… but it will probably be another Vornado - maybe a small or a medium this time versus the large we already have. While I don’t see any exact Dyson fans on sale, the Vornados are all on sale right now - 10% off!

Do you have a favorite fan? Are you a #noAClife liver like me? Let us unite our sweaty palms. Hah! Hello summer!! Here’s to praying for a cool July and August!
