HELLO 2020! EXCITED TO SEE YOU! Every year, I share a special New Year’s post and talk about the coming year, my intentions, and of course the Pantone color of the year.
This year Pantone’s color is Classic Blue. I know some people were sad about it, but to be honest, I’m excited for it. Blue is calming and pretty. Oceans, blueberries, hydrangeas, sapphires, my mom’s (and sister’s) eyes, all a few of my favorite things! Per Pantone: Instilling calm, confidence, and connection, this enduring blue hue highlights our desire for a dependable and stable foundation on which to build as we cross the threshold into a new era.
Tired of the Gatsby jokes yet regarding us entering the 20’s? I mean at least they aren’t making recession jokes, but that very well could be a problem soon too… ANYWAY, back to what I’m thinking for this year. I do make goals… Nick and I both sit down and talk about what we want to do and accomplish, but I really like to set a WORD for the year. Last year was intention. The year before was beauty. I thought long and hard about what my word needed to be and I landed on WORTH.
In 2019 I realized that even though I thought I didn’t focus on physical or worldly things, I very much did. Losing my job robbed me of something that I thought I was entitled to. It’s something that comes up in natural conversation and moving and meeting other people made it hard for me to face the reality of not having a corporate role. Similarly, I suffered from horrible acne last year, to the point where I didn’t want to show my face. Not just because it wasn’t pretty to look at, but also because I was in an immense amount of pain. I want to focus on my worth beyond worldly possessions, material things, and physical appearance. Additionally, I want to keep this in mind for others as well.
Have the best year, y’all! Just know you never have to wait until the following new year to start over or change. There’s always today!
“I praise you, for I am fearfully and wonderfully made. Wonderful are your works; my soul knows it very well.” Psalm 139:14
“Then make my joy complete by being like-minded, having the same love, being one in spirit and of one mind. Do nothing out of selfish ambition or vain conceit. Rather, in humility value others above yourselves, not looking to your own interests but each of you to the interests of the others.“ Philippians 2:2-4
