This blog post has been MONTHS in the making and Iā€™m stoked to share everything with yā€™all. Like always šŸ˜‰  I am splitting this into 3 parts:

1) Why I stopped getting lash extensions

2) cruelty-free and nontoxic lash serums and conditioners

3) cruelty-free and nontoxic mascara.

I had lash extensions from July 2016-Janaury 2018, so a year and a half. (pics above are all during this time frame!) I got them right around the time I had all my bridal showers, bachelorette party, and wedding, not to mention honeymoon! We traveled a lot and were pretty busy with work and our own ventures, that lash extensions were just part of my lifestyle. Donā€™t get me wrong. I LOVED THEM. I went to Amazing Lash in Garland, and had a wonderful experience; however, around December last year, I just got tired of them. I would go in for refills every 2-3 weeks and each time was about 45 minutes to an hour. When you get extensions, you have to re-learn how to itch your eyes and sleep, in addition to being very careful not to get oils, etc on them that might decrease their life-span. I had a ski trip planned in January and decided that after that pre-trip fill, I would no longer re-fill them again.

It was around this time that I was getting realllllly into my beauty routine ā€“ Iā€™ve been on a cruelty-free and nontoxic journey for almost 2 years now and I feel like in the past 6 months, Iā€™ve really kicked it up a notch. I knew I probably wasnā€™t removing all of my makeup at night and wanted to try an oil, but I could never do that with eyelash extensions - anything oily was a big no-no. On the flip side, one of the reasons that I loved eyelash extensions, is because I didnā€™t have to worry about cleaning my mascara off. Because let me tell yaā€¦I did NOT do a good job of that previously. Growing up, the only thing I knew that took it off completely was my mom's Ponds Cold Cream and that was soooo annoying for me, I just didn't do it. Actually, most days I just used a face wipe to wash my face, unless I was in the shower, in which I used a face wash. Like argggg I'm so embarrassed. No wonder my mascara wasn't coming off!!

If you were looking for some big story about some horrific accident I had with them, I'm sorry to disappoint. They were great and I have nothing but good things to say about them...in fact, the best sleep I ever got was when I got my refills! Something about it was just so relaxing to me! My co-worker did have a reaction to last extensions, though! She developed an allergy to the glue and it made her eyes swell up! It was AWFUL But anyway, back on topic... Overall, I stopped getting lash extensions because I didn't want to rely on lash extensions anymore, in addition to having the desire to trying out oils and oil based cleansers. I am happy to report that I am cleaning my face like a champ now and all of my mascara, in addition to other dirt and grime, is coming off perfectly! SO, what am I using now?

CLEANSING ROUTINE

Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk - I have been using this since the beginning of my switch and I love it! It it is calming and gets the job done. I use this in the morning and night.

One Love Organics Vitamin B Cleansing Oil + Makeup Remover - I found One Love Organics when I was researching cleansing oils. This was the first one I ever used and I'm not turning back. It smells great, is gentle, and actually works. It's cool because you can use it as a stand alone makeup remover or cleanse your entire face. I use this at night, along with Juice Beauty Cleansing Milk, to double cleanse.

One Love Organics Easy Does IT Foaming Cleanser (c/o) - I'm giving this a try currently! Will report back, but I like it thus far. When I use it, I use it instead of the Cleansing Milk.

Thayer's Witch Hazel Rose Petal Toner- Any makeup or dirt that doesn't come off with my first 2 soaps, comes off with my toner. If you don't know what a toner is or don't know why you should be using one, omg hurry up and read my post on What's a Toner and Why Use It?

OILS I USE

Herbivore Lapis Oil - This stuff is GOLD. I use typically use it Sunday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Saturday. It helps with hormonal acne, and oddly enough, soothes my eczema! The magic ingredient in it is Blue Tansy. Click here to read about the Benefits of Blue Tansy in your Skincare Regimen. It is a little pricey, but 100% worth it IMO. Plus you don't need a ton per use, so it lasts a while.

Pai Rosehip BioRegenerate Oil - I originally purchased this because my esthetician told me that it would help with milia on my face. It does so much more than that though. It contains vitamin C, which encourages the production of collagen and reduces fine lines and wrinkles! I use this on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday.

One Love Organics Oh Mega Calming Chia Oil (c/o) - I just received this one, but having been using it every Sunday! It is super hydrating and relaxing, which is the intention I put on every week. I knew Chia seeds were good for you, but I had no idea that they were good for your skin!

Extra Tip: I press all of my oils in with a Gua Sha Tool. Learn more about the Benefits of Rolling and Scraping your Face, here!
